Dental Hygiene School Celebrates 40th Anniversary

In 1969, Old Dominion graduated its first students with dental hygiene certificates. This year, the School of Dental Hygiene celebrates 40 years of graduating thousands of dental hygienists from its prestigious program – more than 1,200 to date – armed with the knowledge and skills to provide quality oral health care.

The School of Dental Hygiene will honor its alumni, friends, health and community partners at an event called “Celebrating 40 Years of Excellence in Dental Hygiene Education” on November 7-8.

“As health researchers discover more regarding the oral health and whole body health connection, dental hygienists are more important than ever before,” said Debbie Bauman, Assistant Dean of the College of Health Sciences.
