RN to BSN/MSN Requirements
Students Desiring to Enroll in the RN to BSN/MSN Curriculum Must:
- Complete all lower division general education/departmental requirements prior to the start of the first graduate level course.
- Pass the Exit Examination of Writing Proficiency prior to the start of the first graduate level course.
- Complete and submit the Supplemental Nursing Application for the MSN program by June 1st for a decision by July 1st. No other applications are required at this time.
- Provide evidence of testing scores by June 1st for a decision by July 1st of:
- Miller Analogies Test (MAT) score of 400 or above; or
- Graduate Record Examination (GRE) combined verbal and quantitative portion score of 1000 or above (or 1500 total on all three sections).
- Present an ODU nursing grade point average of 3.5 or above.
- Present a cumulative and transfer grade point average of 2.8 or above.
To Continue in The RN to BSN/MSN Curriculum, A Student Must Earn A Grade of B or Above in Each Graduate Level Course.
- A student in the RN to BSN / MSN curriculum who earns a grade of B- or C+ in a graduate course will not be able to continue in the MSN curriculum as an undergraduate student, but will be allowed to count that graduate course towards BSN degree requirements.
- A student in the RN to BSN /MSN curriculum who earns a grade of C or below in a graduate course will not be allowed to continued in the MSN curriculum as an undergraduate student, and will be required to take the corresponding undergraduate course to complete BSN degree requirements.
- Students not admitted to the RN to BSN / MSN curriculum may apply to the MSN program upon completion of the BSN degree. A student who was ineligible to continue in the RN to BSN / MSN curriculum may re-apply for admission to graduate study upon completion of the BSN degree.
