Professional History

As a registered nurse, my background is primarily in the operating room and in maternal-child nursing. I have always been very involved in patient, staff and nursing student education.  In the past, I have taught breastfeeding and childbirth preparation courses.  I am currently a certified basic cardiac life support instructor and neonatal resuscitation program instructor.  I worked as an adjunct faculty member at Trident Technical College in Charleston, South Carolina prior to moving to the Old Dominion.  My teaching responsibilities at Old Dominion have been focused on the Childbearing Family but I have taught numerous other courses to include:  Nursing Fundamentals Clinicals, Adult Health I Clinicals, Nursing Leadership, Nursing Research, Career Pathway Assessment, and Career Pathway Expanding Horizons. I am very excited about a trip to El Salvador that I am offering as a Nursing Elective over spring break. The medical team will operate a very busy medical clinical.
